The reading passage states that the archaeology in Britain faces a variety of challenges. The professor, however, claims the guidelines, which were established in 1990, have changed the whole situation a lot.
The reading mentions that many construction projects destroyed the valuable ancient artifacts. It declares that the increasing population in Britain has posed a threat to the artifacts. The professor believes people can adopt several approaches to protect these priceless artifacts. She says that the construction sites should be examined by the archaeologists before any construction activities and then a plan could be made up to protect them.
The reading then argues that there is no adequate financial support for archaeological research in Britain. It also states that the financial support, which is influenced by the unstable government priority, is fluky. Nevertheless, the professor counters by saying companies, which are responsible for the construction sites, should pay for the archaeological work done on the sites, so archaeologists finally can do a lot of work with the new finance source.
Finally, responding to the claim that people can not find a career in archaeology, the professor declares that lots of jobs are provided from the guidelines. For example, many archaeology experts are hired all stages of the process to examine the archaeology site, and they can process the data and write reports and articles.

Task 1
内容回忆
Do you prefer a job that deals with different tasks or one that deals with the same task everyday?
参考答案
Sample answer:
For me, this is a fairly easy one to answer. A job that allows me to handle different sorts of tasks would apparently better meet my expectation for a meaningful career life. To say the least, one gets to improve more abilities and skills in such a position, and his social circle will inevitably enlarge in this process. Let’s say you work with a team in a news agency. That means you will need to choose the right stories, carry out investigations, and organize different types of reports. A lot can be learned during these activities, and you also would have to maintain good relations with your sources. That’s something you’ll never experience in a repetitive job.
Task 2

学校要在新生宿舍楼下搞library information desk,
帮他们解决很多他们可能会遇到的问题。
听力
态度:同意阅读,
原因一:省时间,
原因二:图书馆楼层太多,设施太多很多新生不知道怎么用,所以这样做很好
Task 3

听力例子: 教授举例shouting at others,自己有一次在咖啡馆丢了包,15分钟以后发现包没拿,又回去拿包,原来坐在他旁边的女的还在那儿,说本来想提醒的,但是咖啡馆人太多太吵了,她不想shout,因为shout不好,所以没提醒
Task 4

The reading casts doubt on the effectiveness of the relocation plan designed to preserve rhinoceros species (which are in danger of becoming extinct), while the lecturer argues the problems mentioned in the reading about the relocation plan are not convincing, and that the plan is beneficial to the preservation of rhinos.
First, the reading points out that there is a death rate of 5% for rhinos during the relocation process. The lecturer, however, dismisses this concern, claiming that compared with the number of killings committed by poachers, the number of deaths during relocation is relatively small.
Second, the reading passage states that the relocation plan will disrupt not only the bonds between members of the rhino species but also the gender balance between male and female rhinos. However, the lecture contradicts this, pointing out that the right percentage of male and female rhinos will be chosen to keep gender balance before the relocation begins. Furthermore, those rhinos that have offspring to care for will not be transported to other places, so the bond between mothers and infants will not be affected.
Finally, the reading says that given the enormous profits hunters can gain, the relocation method will not prevent poachers from hunting rhinos. The lecturer, however, argues that the designated habitats for relocated rhinos are huge, making it difficult for hunters to locate/find rhinos. Furthermore, some places are not even accessible to potential hunters. (234 words)

范文:
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
It is better to travel abroad to visit different/foreign countries when you are younger rather than when you are older. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
In this highly interconnected world, it is quite common for people to travel overseas, and this is partly due to the availability of efficient transportation vehicles such as airplanes and high-speed trains. Faced with the choice between traveling abroad at a younger age and traveling overseas an older age, I prefer to travel abroad when I am younger.
First, traveling to foreign countries when I am younger helps to improve my foreign language skills. An overseas trip not only creates a pressing need for people to improve foreign language skills prior to the trip but also creates plenty of opportunities for them to hone language skills by using the foreign language while visiting a different country. For example, a few years ago when I was making the plan of traveling to the UK, I realized that I needed to significantly improve my English skills to reduce the risk of potential language-induced misunderstandings, so I spent more time every day on English learning. Furthermore, improvements in my English (particularly in listening and speaking) also occurred when I was using the English language to communicate with local people in everyday situations. Although this linguistic benefit that comes with overseas trips applies to virtually all people regardless of age, the benefit is probably greater for younger people who need better language skills for utilitarian purposes (. landing a job at a multinational corporation) than older people.
Second, traveling to different countries at a younger age may generate career advancement opportunities that we can take advantage of later in life. For example, in my country many people have become highly successful business owners because their earlier overseas experiences afforded them the opportunity to find a niche in the market that they filled later. My friend Vivian is particularly good case in point. She visited a number of countries in her twenties on vacation trips, and during her stay in those countries, she realized, incidentally, that a large number of local people were interested in Chinese–style jewelry and that she could profit from promoting jewelry products with traditional Chinese cultural flavor to cater for the customers’ needs. After returning to China, she quit her stable job at a large state-owned enterprise and set up her own jewelry trade company, which is now thriving. Had she chosen to travel abroad at a later time, she might not have retained the compelling drive and stamina needed for starting her own business.
In summary, while there are certainly benefits that people can gain from traveling overseas when they are older, it seems to be me that traveling abroad at a younger age is more advisable. This is because by doing so, I can gain enormous benefits such as boosting foreign language proficiency and improving career prospects. (459 words)

托福考试作文题目:
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Most experiences in our lives that seemed difficult at the time become valuable lessons for the future. Use reasons and specific examples to support our answer.
托福考试作文参考分析:
举一些例子支持题目中的观点,确实有些痛苦经历对将来毫无帮助。
托福考试作文范文参考:
Some people argue that most experiences in our lives that seemed difficult at the time can later become valuable experiences. I cannot agree with them more. There are numerous reasons why I hold confidence on this opinion, and I would explore only a few primary ones here.
Difficulties are beneficial to our personal growth. In the course of our life, we will face numerous difficulties, and each difficulty will help us grow up, and become a valuable lesson for the future. A toddler fells off the ground for many times before he knows how to walk, and a child learns how to swim after he drinks water in the swimming pool. In addition, only after we experienced failures, we know the value of success. We will never appreciate anything that comes so easy. Difficulties can make us feel stronger and be more confident for the future obstacles.
Furthermore, difficulties in our work can help us gain more experience and knowledge. Most of the times we can gain knowledge and experiences faster through experiencing difficulties in our life and trying to find a solutions to the perplexities that we face. There is a famous saying, "no pain no gain." For example, when we take on a new job that we do not have much experience in, the first few weeks can be extremely painful and we may feel enormous pressure and difficulties. And we will try our best to adjust, to learn and to think, how to do this job better. The more difficulties we feel, the harder we try to acquire the skills and knowledge to overcome it. Learning and this stage is extremely efficient and our problem solving skills well increase. After we overcome more and more problems, we can become an experienced worker in this field and will be able to take on more challenges. We will never fear that we will face the same kind of problem again. This means that we have accumulated valuable experiences for the future.
In a word, a difficult experience is a gift that life gives us. We should appreciate it and take it as a precious opportunity to gain knowledge and experience about our study, work and life.
托福考官范文(篇七)
The lecturer states that, although+【阅读观点】 the commonly accepted three theories of birds’ navigation sounds convincing, it suffers from several flaws on various grounds, as is presented below.
The first problem with the navigation theory presented in the text is the lack of substantial evidence[阅读观点]. As is stated in the lecture,+听力的细节 many birds could still navigate at night; therefore they could not navigate by using the sun as compass, since there is no sunlight at night for their reference. And stars do not help either, as there is only one bird species that is known to navigate by using stars. Therefore the sun and the star could not be birds’ compasses.[听力观点]
[阅读观点]The second flaw concerns birds’ ability to recognize topographical cues. They can remember a certain journey, but only after their previous travels via the same route. The phenomenon that birds that get lost could easily find their way home serves as a crucial example. On the contrary, the theory presented in the text is questionable.
Furthermore, [阅读观点]although birds can sense the earth’s magnetic field, the text ignores a crucial fact that birds could only distinguish north and south[听力观点]. What they could not perform is to find an indefinite destination hidden in complex landscape, which even troubles modern geographical technology, by their simple censoring system. Therefore, birds’ ability to sense magnetic field could not be the explanation for their navigation ability.
托福考官范文(篇八)
Paragraph 1
A contrast of opinions concerning the likelihood of an excavated artifact’s possible function as ancient batteries is evident in both the reading passage and the lecture. The main contrasts are as follows.
此段功能:
(Listening passage后文提到用L代替)
(Reading passage后文用R代替)
以L为根本,指出L对R的怀疑关系,并一句话总结了L和R争论的焦点,即开采的artifact手工艺品(vessels)是古代电池的可能性。随即告诉读者即将展开讨论。
此段结构:
首段第一句话以L出发,确认逻辑。第二句告诉读者讨论即将开始。
Paragraph 2
Firstly, the reading challenges the proposition that the vessel is a battery by pointing out the fact that there’s no electrical conductor, such as a metal wire. The professor responds by suggesting that since the vessel was dug up by untrained villagers, the metal wire, which may have been around that excavation site, may have been deemed unimportant.
此段功能:
R先提出事实,由于找不到金属导体,所以总结vessels不是电池。L补充并且反驳道,找不到导体可能是因为在挖掘过程中村民直接把导体抛弃了,推翻了R的总结。
此段结构:
此段为分分结构,先成列R的证据和观点,在第二句中L用新的证据和理论推翻了R的观点。
Paragraph 3
Secondly, the suggestion in the reading that a similar-looking jar found in a nearby city of Seleucia may indicate the more probable use of the vessel -- holding scrolls of text -- is contradicted by the lecturer’s suggestion that the original purpose of the text-holding jar may have been adapted by a certain ancient inventor for producing electricity. In other words, the function of the vessel may have evolved from a simple container to an ancient battery.
此段功能:
已L为结论,从R的论点(在临近城市发现的类似的瓶子是用于收纳卷轴的,所以现在这个瓶子也是同样功能的)出发,举出新的解释(L说也许这个原来可能是用于收纳卷轴的瓶子,已近功能进化为产生电流了)。最后总结观点。
此段结构:
此段为分分总结构,虽然只有两句话,但其实第一个长句是由两个不同意思的观点组合在了一起。提出R的论点,再由L提出更进一步的新的解释。最后做总结
Paragraph 4
The final disagreement is with the actual purpose of a battery in the ancient world. The reading suggests since there were no electric device that needed power in ancient society, so the possibility that the vessel was used as a battery is very low. But the professor proposes that the vessel’s power-generating capacity may have been used for magical or medical purposes.

It has been said, "Not every thing that is learned is contained in books." Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?
"Experience is the best teacher" is an old cliché, but I agree with it. The most important, and sometimes the hardest, lessons we learn in life come from our participation in situations. You can' learn everything from a book.
Of course, learning from books in a formal educational setting is also valuable. It's in schools that we learn the information we need to function in our society. We learn how to speak and write and understand mathematical equations. This is all information that we need to live in our communities and earn a living.
Nevertheless, I think that the most important lessons can't be taught; they have to be experienced. No one can teach us how to get along with others or how to have self-respect. As we grow from children into teenagers, no one can teach us how to deal with peer pressure. As we leave adolescence behind and enter adult life, no one can teach us how to fall in love and get married.
This shouldn't stop us from looking for guidelines along the way. Teachers and parents are valuable sources of advice when we're young. As we enter into new stages in our lives, the advice we receive from them is very helpful because they have already bad similar experiences. But experiencing our own triumphs and disasters is really the only way to learn how to deal with life.

Introduction:
In termsof the hypothesis discussed in both the reading and the lecture about why the Mary Rose sank suddenly, the lecturer counters the theoriesin the reading passage.

托福考官范文(篇十四)
In the reading passage, the author raises that reading less literature has caused unfortunate effects on the reading public, the cultural general and literature itself. On the contrary, the professor strongly contradicts with it.
To begin with, according to the reading passage, the author mainly talks about reading less literature cannot provide readers with intellectual stimulation. By contrast, the lecturer disagrees with it and she reasons that a book doesn’t have to be literature to be intellectually stimulating. Science books, history and political analysis aren’t literature but they are often of high quality and some of those books are just as creative and well-written as novels and poems. So don’t assume that someone who isn’t reading literature isn’t reading a good book.
To be followed, the reading passage indicates that the culture is in decline. However, the speaker holds the opposite opinion and she says that people are not just spending less time in literature and they are spending less time with books in general. However, today, there are many culturally valuable material that isn’t written such as a brilliant song and good movie. People are not wasting their time when they listen to good songs and watch good movies. Those non-literal activities will not lower the culture. Even some of those creative forms can speak more directly to contemporary concerns than literature does.
Lastly, the writer in the reading part says that it is the readers’ fault to lead to the less support for literature. By comparison, the listening material presents a totally different opinion that it is the authors’ fault because today’s literature is intended to be difficult to understand. So don’t assume the earlier’s generations of readers would read a lot modern literature today.
